High performance polymer molding

Modern high performance polymers offer solutions previously thought impossible through the use of plastics. From metal replacement powertrain applications to high stress, high pressure down-hole drilling components, high temperature plastics succeed where previous materials have failed.

Parkway Products' EMP group has extensive experience in the design and production of components sourced in high performance and exotic resins. Used in applications requiring high resistance to heat or chemicals, high performance plastics such as Torlon® PAI and PEEK™ can replace many metals or other traditional high-stress materials. Parkway EMP also provides many of the secondary operations to provide a complete solution for high performance plastics needs.

Near Net Applications

For appliations with precision machining requirements, a near net molded part can help reduce machine time and reduce material waste. Rather than taking a molded or extruded stock shape from a blank to finished part, near net shapes reduce the amount of machining by providing a part approaching exact specifications, but stopping just short of final specifications, such as exact thread sizing or custom dimensions.

By producing in a near-net state, dimensions such as length and diameter can be specified to a closer tolerance than a stock shape can provide. Parkway EMP is a noted molder of near-net high performance plastics shapes, and can design and produce custom tooling and machining fixtures to meet your near-net application needs.

Thermoset Injection Molding
High Performance Injection Molding
While similar in theory to standard plastic injection molding, high performance injection molding requires some specialized machine and mold alterations. Parkway EMP houses the equipment needed to be a world class Torlon® and PEEK molder, including low-pressure reciprocating screws, material drying systems and hot runner systems.

Parkway EMP High Performance Polymer Injection Molding Capabilities
  • Press size up to 300 tons
  • Mold design & maintenance
  • Hot runner molding systems
  • Specialized low-pressure barrel-and-screw assemblies used in the molding of Torlon® PAI
  • Material dessicant drying systems
  • Automated part removal & sorting
