For
many injection molded components the ideal design would minimize
wall thickness and maximize part stiffness and strength. Unfortunately,
thin wall moldable plastics are not very stiff and high-strength
plastics are often difficult to mold in thin wall sections.
MAGNESIUM
TXM SHIELDING SOLUTIONS PROVIDE:
| » |
Injection molded versatility with parts typically molded at 0.020" (0.5 mm) wall sections and a spiral flow L/D of 600:1 |
| » |
20-times
the stiffness (E = 6.5 MSI) of most plastics |
| » |
Material price that is lower than most engineering plastics and well below the high strength resins |
If
you need it to be stiff, consider Magnesium TXM!

Magnesium
TXM components demonstrate tight-tolerances and follow plastic
design rules for features such as ribs, bosses and gussets
while requiring less draft and being readily moldable at thicknesses
down to 0.020"(0.50 mm).

STIFFNESS TABLE
Example
using this table:
To
get a 30% Glass-Filled PC part with equivalent stiffness
to a TXM part, the PC part would have to be :
93% THICKER than the AZ91D Magnesium
53% HEAVIER than the AZ91D Magnesium
