Electrification and Computerization Mean Innovation for In-Mold Electronics


With the automotive industry always striving for improvement, vehicles are incorporating touch screens but also keeping basic functions on the dashboard. As more plastic is used in interiors, injection molding and thermoforming are accommodating when designers want a more organic appearance and flexibility. "Interior components that were previously metal can now be made with plastic to look like metal, and the same is true of wood," says Marshall Paterson, Vice President at Advanced Decorative Systems. Paterson sees innovative things to come such as sitting a phone on the console and inductively charge your cell phone. Now being 2017, we can only wait for these innovations in the Automotive Industry.
